Celeste Boyd

Celeste Boyd is currently serving as Secretary/Treasurer of Duende.

Celeste is a retired educator who has been involved with the arts since being in her first “theatre in the round” production as a young girl. She was a church choir member for seven years and acted, danced, sang and worked backstage in college productions. She actively supported the integration of arts into the curriculum during her professional career as a teacher and school administrator. As Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services for the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Office, Celeste worked closely with the Central Sierra Arts Council to establish the “Arts Reach to Schools” program which brings local artists into classrooms and helps provide staff development for teachers. She has a passion for using the power of the arts to inspire students, deepen their understanding and enhance their self-confidence.

ABOLITION

ABOLITION tells the story of two friends, Frederick Douglass and John Brown, during the tumultuous decade leading up to the Civil War. Produced as an acclaimed two-man stage play in Sonora and Sacramento, Duende is now in production of a broadcast quality film adaptation.

Learn more about the progress of the film version, as well as the historical background of the stage play.

Theater venues interested in presenting our production of ABOLITION should contact us to discuss the possibilities.
